Bentham - North Yorkshire Market Towns
Home Market Towns (A-L) Market Towns (M-Z)

Bentham is a traditional Market Town rather than a tourist centre, although there is plenty of holiday accommodation available. Close to the A65 and the M6, and easily reached by rail it is an ideal centre for exploration, situated close to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and Forest of Bowland. A short walk from the town centre is Bentham Station, on the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway.

Both High and Low Bentham are surrounded by very diverse scenery. The River Wenning meanders through rich meadow and pastureland, whilst a short walk away are the Fells and the ‘Big Stone’ - with breath-taking views of moors and mountains extending from Bowland to the far Lakeland Hills.

The shops, cafes, takeaways and pubs are mainly grouped together in High Bentham, and should cater for all tastes. The livestock and weekly markets are held on a Wednesday, and a farmers market is held on the first Saturday in the month in the newly refurbished Town Hall (which is also available for hire).
